Wellness Wednesday – Nurse Lauren’s Picks for Healthy Summer Smoothies
Hi there, Nurse Lauren here with your Wellness Wednesday Tip! The weather is getting hotter and we are at the midpoint of the summer season. I love to make a good smoothie when it’s humid outside. They are refreshing and if made with the right ingredients, can be healthy too! Cooking with the oven and stovetop can be tough to do when trying to beat the heat; so gather up some fruits and veggies and take your blender off that top shelf.
Check out these links to four of my favorite healthy summer smoothies:
Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
from Food with Feeling (@FoodwithFeeling)
Ingredients Needed: 1 frozen banana, ½ cup of milk (any kind you desire), ½ cup of yogurt (you could leave this out if desired or swap it for an equal amount of frozen cauliflower), 3 tablespoons of peanut butter (can also swap out for 2 tablespoons of peanut butter powder)
Blueberry Mint Green Smoothie
from The Merry Thought (@themerrythought)
Ingredients Needed: 2 cups spinach (this will blend better if you freeze it beforehand), 2 cups blueberries (I used half fresh, half frozen), 1 kiwi, 3-4 large mint leaves, 1 cup coconut water, 1 cup ice
Triple Cherry Berry Watermelon Smoothie
from Ambitious Kitchen(@AmbitiousKitch)
Ingredients Needed: 1 large frozen banana, 1/2 cup frozen strawberries, 1/2 cup frozen raspberries, 1/2 cup frozen cherries, 1 cup fresh cubed watermelon, 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
Sunshine Daydream Smoothie
from Delish (@DelishDotCom)
Ingredients Needed: 1 cup frozen strawberries, 1/2 cup frozen peaches, 1 cup plain yogurt, 1/2 cup coconut water, 1 fresh strawberry, for garnish
