Wellness Wednesday – National Eating Healthy Day with Nurse Lauren
Hi there, Nurse Lauren here with your Wellness Wednesday Tips! Today is National Eating Healthy Day which is celebrated the first Wednesday every November. I know we all have a packed schedule from morning to night and that often makes eating well challenging. Today I’m sharing with you my tips and an infographic on what a day of healthy eating looks like and how to achieve it! The recommended daily calorie intake is 2,500 for men and 2,000 for women. With that in mind, check out the choices below and start to think about what and when you eat throughout the day. Are you eating breakfast in the morning? Do you have snacks between your main meals? Are you keeping hydrated by drinking water throughout the day? These are all important aspects of keeping a healthy diet. Here are some quick tips:
Tip #1: Always eat breakfast! It’s the best way to start your morning. Think of that first meal as fueling your body and giving you energy for the rest of your day.
Tip #2: Eat every two to three hours. Good snacking between your meals will ensure you aren’t starving when you sit down to a meal. Feeling starving can lead to some not so healthy food choices!
Tip #3: Drink water all day. Before every meal, every snack and even in between!
Using the number of calories reserved for your main meals and snacks – continue to find other healthy options. A favorite website of mine is skinnytaste (@skinnytaste) They have a great key on their homepage that allows you to search for recipes in categories such as: low carb, vegetarian, under 30 minutes, kid friendly, freezer friendly, gluten free, weight watcher smart points… and many more! Do you like smoothies? Check out my top picks for healthy smoothies.
On a budget? Here are some great ideas from Cedars-Sinai on how to still eat well while not breaking the bank.
