Wear Blue Day – Friday, 6/17
Follow and join the conversation with #ShowUsYourBlue, #wearblueday and #menshealthweek.
Each year, during the month of June, Men’s Health is celebrated. The week prior to Father’s Day is scheduled to be Men’s Health Week. Both the month and the week are designated to help raise awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. The Friday of Men’s Health Week is Wear Blue Day, a program designed to raise awareness of men’s health issues within your community while at the same time raising money for Men’s Health Network (@MensHlthNetwork), a national non-profit organization whose mission is to reach men and their families where they live, work, play, and pray with health prevention messages and tools, screening programs, educational materials, advocacy opportunities, and patient navigation.
Wear Blue Day
This year Wear Blue Day will take place on June 17th, the Friday prior to Father’s Day. On this day Men’s Health Network asks that people wear blue to show their support for the men and boys in their lives. Anyone can host a Wear Blue Day and while a number private corporations, government agencies, sports teams, and individuals will choose June 17th this year, Wear Blue can be any day that works for you and your group. Many people take advantage of less stringent work attire to show their support of men’s health by wearing blue, think blue jeans. Whether you decide to host a Wear Blue Day for fun and support, or you’d like to help the cause and raise some money, all of the information, tools, and resources you need are available under the toolbox tab on the Wear Blue site. Also, be sure to share your events, fundraisers, and/or pictures on twitter with #ShowUsYourBlue.
