The Friday Five – World Alzheimer’s Month
Follow and join the conversation with #WorldAlzheimersDay, #WAM2017 and #WorldAlzMonth.
Alzheimer’s kills more people each year than breast and prostate cancer combined. Alzheimer’s is the only cause of death among the top 10 in America without a way to prevent, cure or even slow its progression. Our Friday Five is dedicated to spreading information about the disease and offering ways to raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
Remember Me
Launched in 2012, World Alzheimer’s Month is an international campaign run during the month of September to raise awareness and fight the stigma that surrounds dementia. The theme for 2017 is Remember Me and was chosen to highlight the importance of early detection and diagnosis of dementia. In a press release the Alzheimer’s Association stated that while there is no simple test to diagnose dementia, early detection can lead to affected persons being better able to cope with the progression of the condition and to introduce lifestyle changes, which are social, physical, mental and dietary.
