The Friday Five – National Health Center Week
Follow and join the conversation #NHCW20 and #ValueCHCs
National Health Center Week is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades. According to the National Association of Community Health Centers (@NACHC), health centers serve 28 million patients, a number that continues to grow along with the demand for affordable primary care. Community Health Centers are vital to every community offering strength, expertise, and care during the most painful and trying times. During National Health Center Week, people celebrated the role Community Health Centers play and honored front line workers, staff, and patients who have suffered or lost their lives during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Last week was National Health Center Week 2020, and our Friday Five recaps what health centers have to offer.

National Health Center Week 2020 — Public Health in Housing Day
By: Bob Burns, Director and Saqi Maleque Cho, Director of Research, Policy, and Health Promotion National Center for Health in Public Housing
The theme for this year’s National Health Center Week is, “Community Health Centers: Lighting the Way for Healthier Communities for Today and in the Future.” I cannot think of a more timely and appropriate way to describe the efforts our Health Centers have made this year. The COVID-19 pandemic has proven to be challenging for the entire health system. But Health Centers have demonstrated their flexibility, resilience, and an outstanding commitment to their communities during this strenuous time in our history.
