March 30th is National Doctors’ Day, a day established to recognize physicians, their work and their contributions to society and the community. On National Doctors Day, we say “thank you” to our physicians for all that they do for us and for our loved ones. This week’s Friday Five explains the interesting history behind Doctors’ Day and provides several ways to honor the important doctors in our lives.
The Story of National Doctor’s Day

In his blog post Jennings tells the interesting story behind Doctors’ Day. As Jennings puts it, “The story of how this day came to be is as strange as it is fascinating.” It is definitely worth a read.

For the month of March, Beacon is offering patients a quick and easy way to thank their doctors. Simply submit a story about how a doctor made a difference in your life. Include the doctor’s name and facility and Beacon will be sure to share your sentiments with your doctor.
