In this episode of the Voices of Change podcast, host Katie Capps, co-founder and executive director of the Get the Medications Right Institute, talks to Paul Abramowitz, Pharm.D., the Chief Executive Officer of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Dr. Abramowitz worked in hospitals and health-systems for 34 years and has actively combined practice, teaching, and research throughout his career. He has lectured and published extensively focusing on: the effect that pharmacists have on improving outcomes of care and reducing costs; developing new care models; reducing adverse drug events; and expanding comprehensive medication management to the ambulatory setting. Katie will also speak with C. Edwin Webb, Pharm.D. who serves as the senior policy advisor to the executive director and Board of Regents of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), the national professional and scientific society of pharmacists providing leadership in clinical pharmacy practice, research and education. His portfolio has included federal legislative and regulatory advocacy and communications, professional and interorganizational affairs, and policy analysis, development, and implementation. Together, they share their insight on the future of care focusing on an interdisciplinary, patient-centered care team.
