Monday Motivation – 5 Tips to Healthy Eating with Nurse Lauren
Hi there, Nurse Lauren here with your Monday Motivation! The last few weeks we concentrated on exercise. ICYMI – check it out: Monday Motivation – 3 Ways to Get in Shape at Work with Nurse Lauren. Hopefully you have your exercise routine down now and are feeling good getting your heart rate going! Now let’s switch gears and talk about healthy eating. It’s Monday so it’s the perfect day to commit and plan to make this week the week you will make healthy food choices!
Tip #1: Survey your fridge and cabinets – what do you already have in there that is healthy? Key word = healthy. If it’s full of chips and soda – you need to start from scratch. If you have some healthy options make a list of them. Go do this – RIGHT NOW! I’ll wait here… come back with your list and then read tip #2!
Tip #2: Ok, got your list? Time to surf the internet. Just open a second tab – I’ll still be here. There are so many sites that offer healthy recipes! Check out skinnytaste (@skinnytaste) one of my favorite resources for delicious, healthy recipes. Search for recipes with the healthy ingredients you already have.
Tip#3: Good work! You have a few recipes for the week that include some stuff you already have in your fridge? What else do you need for these recipes? Complete your shopping list NOW! I’ll be skimming skinnytaste for my recipes for the week while you are doing this.
Tip#4: Make a meal plan. Write out what you will have for breakfast, lunch, dinner and 2 or 3 snacks everyday this week. Google images – Meal Prep Calendars or Meal Prep Planners. Pick a fun, colorful one that you will love to hang in your kitchen and look at everyday. Go ahead – go pick one!
Tip #5: Got your new weekly meal planner? Do you love it!? Time to fill it out. Now grab your car keys and get to the grocery store! This is your first week of healthy eating. Make a promise to yourself that you will commit to sticking to your plan this week.

Planning out your meals for the week (plus meal prepping – but we will get to that next week) are imperative in helping you STICK to a well-balanced, healthy diet. It’s not just about losing weight! It’s about creating eating habits that will make you healthy! As the old saying goes: Fail to plan? Plan to fail. Now you have your plan for this week – hang that meal planner on your fridge and follow it. You can do it!
