The Incrementalist Debuting 3/19/18
We’ve known Dr. Nick van Terheyden, aka Dr. Nick, since 2009, during what I affectionately refer to as “the early years.” In fact, if memory serves me right, Roberta and I were the first to dub him “Dr. Nick”. And the moniker just seemed to stick.
In those first few years, Dr. Nick did some educational webinars with us and wrote some articles that we published on our first network site, HITECH Answers. During this time. we relied heavily on his insights and forward-thinking outlook to educate our readers on how health IT technology was changing healthcare delivery for the good. Dr. Nick didn’t just write about the impact (good or bad) of the EHR Incentive Program and Meaningful Use; he wrote extensively about the impact of health IT from the perspective of a former practicing physician. He was and still is, keenly interested in how health IT moves the needle forward on improving healthcare.
Fast forward to 2012 when we started our live streaming Internet radio station, HealthcareNOW Radio and turned to Dr. Nick as a potential radio host. A few weeks later, we began airing Voice of the Doctor, based on his blog with the same name. Yours truly was Dr. Nick’s trusted sidekick. I was his “Robin” to his “Batman” though, truth be told, I fell far short of that role as a relative newcomer to health IT. I can’t even rock a good pair of tights. That said, I learned a lot, and I mean a LOT, in my sidekick stint for the year or so we worked together.
And now it seems as if we have come full circle.
More than five years after the end of our first show with Dr. Nick, we are ecstatic to announce the debut of his new show next week, The Incrementalist. This time around, I play no “sidekick” role. Instead, Dr. Nick will be talking with well-known industry thought leaders, engaging them in conversations about how we can improve healthcare through incremental changes.
Dr. Nick’s first guest is Dr. Eric Topol, Executive Vice President of The Scripps Research Institute. Dr. Topol has authored three books, his last in 2015: The Patient Will See You Now: The Future of Medicine Is in Your Hands.
