Here at Healthcare Now Radio we love a good list. For this week’s Friday Five we scoured the internet for five good healthcare focused lists for 2021. From best hospitals to influential healthcare leaders, to industry trends and innovations, to the biggest mergers and acquisitions, we have a little something for everyone.
Some of the biggest healthcare mergers and acquisitions of 2021
According to Vator News (@vatortv), after a hot 2020 in healthcare mergers and acquisitions, 2021 came out of the gate swinging, with over 30 new deals being announced in just the first two months of the year. It never let up either, growing every quarter, according to data from Rock Health: in fact, Q3 2021, with 79 deals, was the largest quarter to date and August, which saw 33 deals, was the biggest digital health M&A month ever. Some of the biggest deals include deals from Microsoft, Humana, Optum, Intermountain, Oracle, and One Medical.

U.S. News Releases 2021-22 Best Hospitals Rankings
U.S. News & World Report (@usnews) released the 2021-22 Best Hospitals rankings and ratings. In the latest edition, seven new Procedures and Conditions ratings have been added, diversifying the portfolio to 17 services in all. The new ratings – covering Heart Attack, Stroke, Pneumonia, Diabetes, Kidney Failure, Hip Fracture and Back Surgery (Spinal Fusion) – emphasize the importance of targeted research and care that provides patients and their doctors with data-driven decision support.

Healthcare’s Most Wired: National Trends 2021
The COVID-19 virus has tried the healthcare system in innumerable ways. Despite these challenges, healthcare employees, organizations and vendors have fought back and continue to fight against this global pandemic.
