US News and World Report Ranks Top Children’s Hospitals
For the tenth year, U.S. News and World Report (@usnews) released the #BestChildrensHospitals list. The 2016-17 rankings include children’s hospitals from around the country known for their excellence in pediatric care. Data was analyzed from 183 pediatric centers and 10,000 pediatric specialists were surveyed to rank children’s hospitals overall and in 10 specialties. The report includes a top 50 for each specialty, which shows 78 different pediatric care facilities appearing at least once. Rankings were based on performance in: clinical outcomes; efficient coordination and use of “best practices”; and sufficient resources. Combined these three areas generated one-third of a hospital’s score. The best of the best ranked in the top 10% in at least three specialties. These eleven Children’s Hospitals are this year’s Honor Roll.
The specialties under consideration: Cancer; Cardiology & Heart Surgery; Diabetes & Endocrinology; Gastroenterology & GI Surgery; Neonatology; Nephrology; Neurology & Neurosurgery; Orthopedics; Pulmonology; and Urology.
